Michael Fikaris is some guy from Australia who has been self-publishing his own 'FROTH' comics since 1991 as well as drawing and painting on all sorts of stuff since moving to Melbourne in late 1992. He has co-edited a few influential Australian/New Zealand comic anthologies since 1996, and is responsible for all sorts of displays, exhibitions and informal improvisations.

Since then, Michael has been known to talk at festivals, conventions, institutions and gatherings alike on the subject of producing and gathering quality 'experimental' and 'contemporary' comic art in Australia and New Zealand. He started Silent Army with Kieran Mangan in 2002 and most recently interviewed Harvey Pekar (American Splendor) and made a comic about it.

He has created 18 issues to date of his title 'FROTH' and is not currently involved in commerce or trade. True Fantasy (2004) was the last book he organized, inviting artists to contribute pages of their own to be bound and returned as a symbol of what is possible with no funding, support or intention other than each other. The result is a 200+ page collection with over 50 Australian contributors. Preview

Skilled in freestyle creativity, networking of non descriptive scriptures and word to herd combat, Michael is involved with a few selfless, non commercial, spirited and evolving art communities. Recently relocated to Canada, Fikaris is currently working on similar community ties between the two countries. Mostly working with groups in Toronto, Canada on two anthologies Regal Beast and Don't Touch Me, he is also putting together a bunch other things including a collection of 'FROTH'. Some new samples
