The arrival of the US-based Borders bookstore chain in Australia popularised a more "welcoming" style of bookstore, often incorporating a cafe and providing comfortable seats for customers to read in rather than being expected to make a purchase and leave. Borders stores tend to have sizeable graphic novel sections, but this varies according to individual stores.
